What are the advantages of upgrading to Windows 7?
This depends on the version of Windows you’re currently using. XP users benefit greatly from 7′s additional security features, stability and user interface (UI) improvements. Vista users will notice improved performance particularly with laptops. Everyone benefits from the clean installation.
Is my computer ready for Windows 7?
Since Windows 7 leverages Vista’s growing hardware and software compatibility list, this should not be a major issue for computers less than 5 years old. If you’re unsure about compatibility email us and we’ll tell you.
I have Vista. Can I insert the disc and run the upgrade option?
While Microsoft has allowed Vista owners to do an in-place upgrade, we always recommend doing a clean installation. This means formatting the disc entirely and installing a fresh copy of 7 ensuring no remnants from the old OS is left behind causing problems.
What about my applications? Will they be transferred over?
You will need to re-install your applications. Be sure to have all your installation CD’s and downloaded files ready for the upgrade. Also be sure to locate registration keys for software if applicable. Personal files like documents, internet bookmarks, photos, music and videos will be transferred over just fine.
Would this be a good time to get a larger hard drive?
Absolutely. With 1 Terabyte drives under $100, now is a great time to purchase an upgrade. We can install Win 7 on the new drive then add your old one as a secondary for even more storage. Not sure which drive is compatible with your system? We can help you.
Is this a Genuine Copy of Windows 7?
Yes. We provide a genuine disc that includes a hologram.
What if I already have my own copy of Windows 7?
Simply subtract $100 from the price. Make sure this copy has NOT been installed on another machine as you’ll need to activate each license with Microsoft after the installation.
